AFFRONT
Before Farid knows the actual reason for Amir's visit to Afghanistan, he affronts him many times. On the drive up to Farid's house he tells Amir how he has never been a true Afghani and that "You've always been a tourist here" (Kite Runner 232).
DOMNINEER
When Amir reaches Farid house, they go inside and meet Farid's family. While Amir is staying at their house he clearly sees that Farid's brother, Wahid, is obviously the domineering man in the house. An example of this is when Farid is talking down to Amir Wahid yells at him for not using proper manners toward their guest. (Kite Runner 236)
PLACATE
When Farid is driving Amir his home, Amir is feeling very sick and nauseous. Farid tries to placate Amir's stomach, "Lemon. Good for the sickness" (Kite Runner 229). Sadly it did not work as well as Amir would have hoped and he was still feeling very nauseous.
PATHOS
Farid feels pathos when he finds out why Amir is in Afghanistan to find the son of his dead half-brother. Farid feels bad for assuming that Amir was here for money and that Amir was selfish and spoiled. Farid then apologizes "It was wrong of me to assume" (Kite Runner 239).

EFFACE
In the book Night, it discusses what Jewish people went through during the Holocaust. The Holocaust was a time period where Nazis in Germany tried effacing the Jewish race from the Earth. They thought that if they destroyed all of them and wiping them from existence it will create a better world.
CAPITALIST
The people that have stocks in companies would be considered capitalists. The reason that people invest in companies through stocks is because people hope that if they give money, that the company will become very wealthy. This will mean that they will get a portion of the money, the size depends on the amount of money you invested.
AFFRONT
In today's society people are constantly affronting others. Whether it is at school, home, on the field or in a movie; it is constantly happening. At one point the most common way of affronting someone was Yo Mamma jokes and insults.
